Great idea SirTragain and that is something I could add in the future. Right now my EV bug is a commuter. I drive 25 miles to work, plug it in work 8 hours, drive 25 miles home, plug it in sleep 8 hours, and do it all over again.

I would try to have the green one light up when the charger is still plugged in and charging so you do not drive off with it plugged in to the wall socket. The red one could come on when you have used 25% of your pack charge.
This would let you know to start thinking about charging and roughly how far you have until 50% DOD (Depth of discharge).

I think that your car is amazing! Such a clean installation and wiring does not look like a rat's nest like some I've seen. Seems to ride nicely too. But I sure hope you stay off I-285 with that thing! Not enough speed.

Yep...I was debating whether to disconnect the light or let it burn. I have driven almost 4000 miles and I pay so much attention to my volts, amps, and state of charge gages that I dont even notice the generator light anymore. But if I did illuminate the oil light I could have a red and green light. Christmas all year long.

very cool. i just can't get over the glowing generator light... now, if you wired the oil light to stay on all the time as well, that'd be epic. i mean, something /has/ to be wrong, right?

Thanks...Im waiting for the lithium batteries to come down in price. Changing to lithium will reduce weight and increase speed and mileage. A 120 volt lithium battery pack is around 4 times the cost of the lead acid batteries.

im sure you've thought about this, but is there a way you could fix a generator or alternator to an axel or one of the wheels so it charges while you drive?
