I think the Ford Fusion would be best for the average family, Looks good, 41mpg, Has the most head and leg room, 197hp, most overall room, Safety rated 5 stars, the only car out of the group that looks normal, A Hybrid doesn't have to look like a Hybrid, and doesn't have to feel like one, BTW the Fusion is the only midsized car in this comparision so mpg won't be the best but it's good for it's class(midsize). I'd drive the Fusion anyday. It looks good for anyone.

good review minus the part about the Insight getting bad gas mileage on the hwy… every other real world test i've seen has the Insight around 48mpg/hwy…
how, in this test did it only come out to 38mpg/hwy??

@ripper3200
VW sold 500,000 VW Golfs in Europe in 2009. Europe's best selling car. At least half were diesels.
The Jetta is a Golf with a trunk.

@bizzybearfigiblue Well the test will vary greatly because of altitude, temperature and road. So if the cars get tested let say at winter they would get better mpg because the cold air has more oxygen making it more "efficient". And I'm talking a small change maybe 1mpg more maybe more in the "long" run. Anyway The temps, tire, road even wind they are all factor when testing so It would be hard to get an exact mpg and EPA estimates are on a control enviroment so that's why they sound good.

@bizzybearfigiblue I'm really tired but I hope that you understood what I meant

i understand exactly what you meant… it's just every other real world testing/comparison between the Prius and Insight have them very close to the same numbers… Prius edges the Insight by a very slight margin…

This is not entirely correct, the main reason for differences in Fuel economy isn't the Imperial vs US gallon, but the way in which they're tested to get to thier MPG figure. I think most people understand that there are more liters in an Imperial gallon verses a US gallon.
Example?
prius combined rating in europe is
70.62 imperial mpg
OR
58.8 US MPG
So you can't just do a direct conversion of Imperial to US mpg to get an acurate test. EPA tests are different than the Europeans.

Whats the point in posting how many cars are sold? Are you going to post Toyota's vs Vw sales for january 2010?
Oh wait let me do it for you.
Toyota -19%
Volkswagen +40%
I don't get the point your trying to make in posting this over and over again.
Vw sells 10x as many TDI's world wide as toyota sells hybrids. It's really a silly comparison.

? Jetta looks pretty normal too. Not a very compromising car either. The next one has a much better looking front imo (though all VWs are beginning to look the same).
But yeah the Fusion looks like a great car.

Well I do think the new Prius is a lot less ugly. It's not 'normal' but it doesn't have to be.

Yes its not AS ugly but its still ugle I'd much rather have a Jetta tdi and to be honest even the insight looks better

Prius would probably be best of those three – Jetta would be very tight and Insight…. maybe. Prius has great head room

in Russia prius costs 40.000$ …. fuck it, i'd rather spend it on fuel+better car
