what about the lucite Dan Armstrong clear plexi? I want to see a reveiw on that so i can hear what that sounds like over the wood versions. I cant find any reveiws on it on u tube.

Where'd you buy it? I've only seen them on eBay or the Ampeg Website.

My only problem with this guitar is that the swamp ash one is ridiculously more expensive than the other two models. $280 less for the ugly-looking alder and $200 less for the ugly-looking mahogany. It's like they're charging so much more for the swamp ash one because they see how utterly gorgeous it is in comparison to the other two models.

Also, I think you know this, but the interchangeable pickup on this model is nothing new for Ampeg/Dan Armstrong. They've been doing it for ages.

Yeah but the clear plexiglass one is well worth the money. I think the reissue retails for around 1,200 on Guitar Center website.

I just sat down trying to decided on a new axe, played everything in the $500-$600 range and avoided this guitar because it wasn't my style. After a couple hours I tried it out. Wow! The neck is simply amazing! Do not count this out without trying it first, I was immediately won over. I played it for 5 min and was out the door with it, it's that good! I have the mohagany model and it sounds flat out like an SG!

the lucite is definitely different. i own one & i prefer it oer any of the wood models ive heard because it has such a unique tone. plus it's MUCH heavier which gives it incredible sustain.

thats really cheap for one of the most sexiest guitars on earth =D

I'm just wondering. Where would you go about getting different pickups to put in the guitar. I would like to have the stock one and maybe a P90 to switch for some of my other tunes. I can't find anything about other pickups to put in.

these are nice, but the plexi is significantly cooler. much heavier, so you get GREAT sustain. plus the plexi's have a much more unique tone. and the look of the plexi is waaaay cooler

Kent Armstrong makes them. I got my ADA6 two weeks ago and it came with this humbucker and a P90 style. Both sound amazing. You can even custom order pickups from Kent built exactly to your specifications.

The white finish is nice, but I've played the cherry model, which is stunning. Great deal for ~$550.
